Welcome to OCTA
The
Oklahoma Cable and Telecommunications Association (OCTA) is the only
trade association representing the Oklahoma Cable television industry
and related companies in Oklahoma. Although cable television began
in Ardmore, Oklahoma, in the late 1940's, OCTA was not created until
1979. It's principle office is located in Oklahoma City, the state's
capital.
OCTA was originally created as the Oklahoma
Cable Television Association in 1979. The association subsequently
split into two organizations in 1985 with the new association being
Cable Television operators of Oklahoma (CTOO). That name was subsequently
changed to Cable Telecommunications operators of Oklahoma in 1994.
The old OCTA became defunct in the early 1990's.
The directors of CTOO on July 6, 2001, elected to change the name
of the surviving organization, CTOO, back to the original acronym
of OCTA and adopted the name Oklahoma Cable & Telecommunications
Association as its official name.
The association represents over 700,000 cable
households in the state. Cox Communications is the largest operator
in the state, representing two-thirds of the cable subscriber households
in Oklahoma.
